Types of Wood Pellet Stoves
There are two different types of wood pellet stoves, freestanding and inserts. They can generally cost anywhere from $1500-$3000.00 and you may choose from a number of colors. They can also differ by being a bottom fed or top fed stove. Either way, these stoves depend on small wooden pellets that are usually made of recycled materials that burn in an eco-friendly manner.
Freestanding Wood Pellet Stoves
Freestanding stoves do just that. They are free from the walls of your living quarters and can be moved from room to room. These stoves need a power source, but use a low wattage to generate electricity. They are very efficient when heating up a single room but the blower can be adjusted to a higher volume to produce stronger air flow, allowing more hot air to generate into other rooms or larger rooms. These stoves are said to be easier to clean and maintain since they are out in the open.
Inserts Wood Pellet Stoves
These wood pellet stoves are simply inserted directly into the existing fireplace. They require a yearly chimney sweep which can be great for maintaining purposes. If you buy an insert stove chances are you are purchasing a bottom fed model which usually allows ash to build up. If you don’t keep up on your cleaning this build up can lead to more difficult problems. You should never attempt to install an insert on your own. There are too many components and complications to guarantee your stove is in proper working order. Let a professional do the job. |
